The oiled brass is beautiful however the mirror itself has developed pits in it that are distracting and there’s no way to get rid of them. I don’t understand why this happened. I love the size but the pitting takes so much away from its functionality.

My old makeup mirror broke and I had it since 7th grade… I’m 26 now. My old mirror was a conair from Walgreens for $35.. So I decided it was time to invest in a quality makeup mirror. I finally bought this one as I was impatient to wait until my birthday in April.. I told my husband to get it for me.. haha
I am so glad I went for it! This mirror is not only gorgeous but it’s larger than my old mirror and the light is perfect and the cord is thick like an extension cord so it won’t kink. I ordered the gold and it matches my mirror above my sink perfectly! I know it’s expensive but it’s well worth it! You won’t regret this purchase!

Other companies variations on this similar item were much more expensive. All I have to compare it to was a similar item I had previously.
The lighting on this one is – adequate, but barely. It would be great to be able to turn it up brighter. I sometimes have to use a flashlight to supplement.
NOTE: while I use it somewhat for grooming, I’m also using it for semi-medical reasons where I need to look at eye or face close and bright.
It’s probably OK for standard ‘make up’ and so on.

The mirror does not magnify well; you have to be extremely close to benefit from the 10x magnification feature and then, you can only see portions of your face as you’re too close. Despite the instructions and videos indicating that you can adjust the light intensity with a switch, the light always stays dim, which makes it difficult to see clearly. Although it is attractive and durable, it is not practical for use as a lighted magnifying mirror. I am returning it, to worth the money.
