   I purchased this mirror for a small powder room. The curved edges soften the room and add a feminine touch. Packaging was excellent and included wall anchors and screws for hanging. The mirror seems to be of good quality and is a good weight. One thing that is not included is a template for determining screw placement in the wall. The hanging holes in the back of the mirror are about six inches down from the highest point and maybe two to three inches from the edges. (I don’t remember exactly.) I made my own template by running masking tape from one hole to the other and poking holes in the tape where the screws should go. I then put the tape on the wall, about six inches down from where I wanted the top of the mirror to go, made sure the tape was level, and drilled my holes. Now, most of you are probably thinking, “Well duh,” but I’m not very handy. Hanging the mirror took lots of careful measuring, but I was able to accomplish it by myself successfully the first time.

   This mirror is beautiful – the reflection is very sharp and clear, no distortion that I can see. I love the shape of the mirror and the fact that it is beveled around the edge! But this mirror is quite thin – it has the plating on the back to make it a mirror but no other backing. It is glass, as it has some heft to it but is not really heavy. They have placed hangers for you to mount either vertically or horizontally. They force you to use two mounting points, which I always come close to cursing upon application :# But for this mirror I found a helpful trick. -I measured and installed the screws first, but then, I hung the mirror one screw/side, then pivoted on it and ‘found’ the other mounting point by rotating the mirror over the other screw head until it dropped in place. This was easier for me, -and really, might be common sense for others -? It is nice that they include screws and drywall hangers, if you aren’t on the studs. If you leave the protective film on while installing, the mirror looks clean when you’re done. They also included some pads to adhere to the back of the mirror to prop it out the same distance as the screw heads, but I find some slight advantage to having the mirror tilted just that small amount, since I hung it fairly high on the wall. I really like this mirror, but I do feel the price is just a bit high – maybe it’s just the economic times we are in -? And — I’m going to decorate it for Halloween – w/ clear window film made into a ghost and some black window film cut into bat shapes! I know, -I’m Halloween crazy!

    If you’re looking for a 40×28 inch mirror, you probably want to consider Artlodge’s beveled frameless one. First, Artlodge does an amazing job at securely packaging the mirror. It comes in a box with fitted thick foam panels surrounding the mirror, and extra thick foam corners, ensuring your mirror can take some punishment in transit and still arrive in one piece. The mirror comes with 3 mounting screws, 3 plastic drywall inserts, 4 foam pads, and instructions. The glass mirror weighs about 20 pounds and has a film on the front of the mirror to allow you to handle the mirror without special gloves or leaving finger prints. The back side of the mirror does not have any backing or padding, and comes preinstalled with 3 mounting points. These are permanently glued in place 4 inches from each end of the mirror. I didn’t trust the mounting hardware to hold the mirror due to the thin gauge of the screws and the questionable design of the drywall inserts. Instead I went with a 30-pound hanging hardware set from a local big box store. Considering only 2 mounting screws will be holding up this mirror, you can take whatever risk you want, but I don’t want the mirror falling off the wall due to poor quality hardware. The only thing left to review is the installation. That was a major pain. Because the mounting hangars on the back of the mirror are metal slots designed for a screwhead and only about a couple milimeters off the back of the mirror for clearance, it’s impossible to see what you’re doing when you’re mounting the mirror on the wall. Make sure you have a way to make level markings for the drill holes (we used a laser level), and that you measure the distances from the sides of the mirror well (4 inches from top and 4 inches from side). If you don’t line all of this up, you will not be able to hang the mirror. Trust me, measuring twice and drilling once is definitely the thing to do. Overall, the mirror is large, unblemished, undistorted, and hangs well all things considered. I recommend!

    Love this mirror and it’s simplicity. It’s crystal clear and just the right size for my entryway (hard to get a decent picture, sorry!). Since it comes with some foam pads to go on the back (to keep it hanging straight on the wall), I was afraid it would stick out or be noticeable on the edges, but nope, it somehow still appears flat. It did take me a long time to get brave enough to hang it by myself, but I got it done. I was worried that the screws didn’t seem long enough to hold securely, so I did use some that were a little longer and a little bigger. I also didn’t feel good about the plastic anchors that came with the mirror since they have no “washer-type” top on them. I’ve had problems with that type of anchor in the past (it just pushes right through the drywall), so I also used some different anchors that I felt would be a little better. In the end, it is up on the wall very solidly (luckily I hit a stud on one side). It won’t wobble and I won’t have to worry about it moving when I need to clean it. Love it!
